Two Weeks Pottery Intensive HELPER

Aug 3-7th and Aug 10-14 Join Ms. Ona and Ms. Megan for two uninterrupted weeks at Firefly Valley Pottery (25 Central Ave West) as we dive deeply into pottery. Week One: Wet pottery week where students make more pottery than ever before. During this week, students will receive five days of handbuilding and throwing with optional extra wheel time. At least 10 pieces of pottery will be made and advanced techniques will be taught in both modalities. There will not be an art show this week. Work will be bisqued and fired to hardness in preparation for week two. Week Two: Guest artists will come to help teach mishima (carving and slip inlay) underglaze painting, glaze dipping, bubble glazing, raku and more. On Thursday and Friday, we’ll explore other mediums like multimedia acrylic painting and collage, fabric dyeing, photography, and more. Families are invited for an Art Show Friday Aug. 14th at 3pm. This camp is for the pottery-loving child who can commit to multi-day, larger pottery projects. Many of the techniques will be new so artists will need a higher-attention span and willingness to listen to detailed instructions. A few of the new techniques we hope to try are altered wheel forms and lantern carving. Special perks included in this two week ticket: 1. Parent’s night out is included on Thursday, 8/6 from 4-7pm. 2. One parent pottery pass per family is included (2 hours) and will be available for scheduling closer to the date during the first week of camp.
