Single Day - Winter Camp at IC Imagine

Service Description

Join Ms. Ona for a cozy day of pottery, crafts and holiday foods that honor Winter traditions around the world. Throughout the week, we will revisit some cultural traditions from previous sessions of Winter Camp, like Diwali and Hanukkah, while also adding new lessons and activities from European and African celebrations. IC Imagine allows us access to their playground and trails so kids will be outside a good bit. Camp open to all families. Location: IC Imagine Charter School, 110 Champion Way, Asheville, NC 28806 Days and Times: December 14-18, Monday-Friday 9am-3pm (after-care hour until 4PM available for purchase $10/hour) Ages: 5-16 years old with the majority of artists being elementary ages. Helpers: Ages 11+ can apply for our limited Helper program. See Helper Application on "Classes & Workshops" page to learn more and apply. Previous helpers need not re-apply; email Ms. Ona to let us know you’re interested. Your Helper application must be approved by Ms. Ona in order for you to receive the discounted Helper admission price. Daily Schedule: 8:45 am- Helpers arrive 9 am- Campers arrive, helpers walk them to classroom & show them AOK's (Acts of Kindness) 9:30- 10:00am- Snack, morning circle, Read Out Loud from book that ties into daily activity 10:30-11:30am- Morning lesson with clay, crafts or cooking (see weekly flow below to learn more about planned daily activities) 11:30am-12:00pm Lunch 12:00-12:30pm Siesta (Solo Peaceful Time w/ calm activity brought from home; more info below) 1:00-2:30pm- Afternoon art activities - glazing projects from the morning, painting, free clay play, felting, hiking on ICI trails, ICI playground, scavenger hunts, baking and individual pottery wheel throwing lessons. Helpers help campers and are encouraged to lead their own activities like braiding, Henna, paper crafts, etc. 2:30- Snack, hydration and “Cheers” (gratitude) circle 3:00 - Pick up Weekly Flow- M/T/W are pottery days, Th is a festive craft, Fri paint/gift wrap Packing List: morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, full water bottle, warm jacket, hat, gloves, socks, & item for siesta (rest/calm time after lunch). Suggested siesta items: book, handwork like yarn for finger knitting, a coloring book/word search, puzzles. IC Imagine is a Nut Free facility so do not send any nuts or nut butters. Seeds and seed butters are ok. Please leave at home: electronics, knives, candy, toys with batteries/screens/phones or smart watches please.
